UK of Equestria

On the 21st of December 2011, UK of Equestria opened its doors. (There's always some confusion as to whether we started on the 19th, but that was when internal testing first took place).

Today marks 365 days since we started. A year. Wow. What a way we've come. From almost nothing to a nationally-reaching (and even beyond) community that has more than 2,000 members.

History Lesson:
Just over one year ago, there was a meet-up in Trafalgar Square on the 17th of December 2011. It was an event that was originally planned by Skittys for a group called "LASER Bronies" (LASER being "London and South East Region") that was hosted on a free site and the information was passed around social networks such as Rainbow Dash Network.

Hey there. Well, you might have noticed, but our selection process for the Moderator Applications has now drawn to a close. There really were some good applications in there, and some excellent candidates, so making final decisions really was a hard call - for all of the admins involved.

So, without further ado, here are the new mods...

As I mentioned before, it really wasn't easy picking people. In addition to the names above, we have specified some additional roles:

Dylia - Junior Moderator
Eiro - Junior Moderator
FireSparkle - IRC Moderator
Rizae - Roleplay Moderator

The Junior Mod roles are intended to support the Global Site Moderators in their day-to-day roles.
FireSparkle was selected to moderate in the IRC for being very familiar with other participants in the chat.
Rizae has already been a Roleplay Moderator for a few days now, but the role was given to him following recommendations from the other Roleplay Moderators....

Well, I must say I'm surprised. I've been here for a while now and I can safely say that everyone here right now has surpassed every expectation I've ever had for a large UK fandom. Seriously now, where are you all coming from? we're running out of space here!

Sadly 2,000 members has sneaked up on up pretty quickly, but to give you all an idea of what you've achieved so far in a single year, here's a quick timeline I cooked up!

I'd say that's a lot of messages! It was only back in June that 100,000 was hit. That's 150,000 additional posts in four and a half months.
