Seems a shame that the coverage is not great. Even some UK Bronies still don't even know about here yet alone B.U.C.K.

I myself only found out about BUCK after seeing BronyCon news online and googling about conventions in the UK, and through the BUCK site, found this forum, so yeah, I can't disagree with what you said at all.

we could do with an article on EQD to help get word out to the UK bronies.

BUCK are often mentioned on EqD roundups, and are prominently advertised on the EFR website. We've even got a few EFR hosts that are coming to BUCK. How more prominent can we get?

Sometimes you just gotta throw it at sites repeatedly. EQD has known to derp at times when it comes to conventions. Like completely forgetting that one exists. And it wasn't until its founder practically yelled at them before they finally gave it more coverage.

Also, DerpyHoovesNews, TheDailyOat and other news sites are pretty awesome too. Quite a few bronies have switched to those two sites from EQD.

Ripp_ has stupidity - which is quite profound.

I keep getting the feeling that, in many ways, B.U.C.K may benefit from a small scale first convention, It'll allow the staff to get a feel for it without having celebrity guests to worry over and, with lessons learned, plan better for the future.

I'm pretty sure, whatever happens, it'll be a success and for all Galacon is the 'Euro Bronycon' The UK's place in the world shouldn't negate it as a destination. Best way to get prestige as a convention is to do stuff that makes it prestigious and, in all honesty, I keep feeling that the people at Hasbro and their marketing department need to be shown that the MLP: FiM brand doesn't have a purely US demographic.

It doesn't, but the UK demographic is still far too small to justify any real response - especially when you consider the relative populations of the UK and US.... We're absolutely tiny :p

It's true we're not exactly massive compared to US population as a whole but we're hardly tiny. Over 62,000,000 at last count and that's almost twice the population of California. We ain't big but we're not far off the top 20 population wise and 6 in the world for gross domestic product. That's above India which has a bigger population than the US. Unless we're talking the number of Bronies here. I'd need to see comparable statistics to reach a fairer conclusion but with the lack of marketing visible for the show (being consigned to Boomerang) is it any wonder if we're a far smaller blip on the radar?

End of the day. Population numbers matter very little in whether a product a company sells becomes popular or turns a decent enough profit for a territory to continue being one worth investing in. In terms of whether the UK is a decent place to grow a customer base for MLP:fim we have a few things in our favour: a common language (sorta :p ) A known cultural attachment to American media (just think how many North American TV shows you grew up with as a child)

Quoting statistics on this matter is pointless anyway as you can bet some Hasbro marketing exec is being paid to consider just such options and selling a franchise in one location doesn't always translate to another even with the figures on your side. I'm not going to be arrogant enough to assume that they don't know what's best for their company but, in their shoes, a fandom growing big enough in a territory with minimal exposure to the product in a similar vein to one that's grown up in the States to get a convention on the subject up and running within three years. Is one that should have more attention than we currently get.

Alternatively we get ignored just like all those die hard fans clamouring for certain Japan-only games to get an international release. I'm sure the market figures would justify it to someone far more in the know than I.

Tl;dr: tiny maybe, but the opportunity to become something more is there provided Hasbro doesn't miss the boat.
