Don't let it. The purpose of this is to push you to improve and all artists start at the bottom, so nobody thinks less of those who don't draw well... only those who won't try to improve.

Yes, I said that to incite bobby to really push themself.

My response to that piece was because it was probably a doodle. Even the most low-level of artist will do much better if they put time into the piece. I said nothing against it, only that the artist can do better.

This art challenge is to help people improve, that is why you people get told to draw again and try harder. Without this challenge I wouldn't have tried out that pose or wing style and I'm glad I did because now I know I can draw wings in more than one way.

The threads continue because they help me also. I'm inciting MYSELF to try something new each week. I'd probably not have the same drive were I not pushing you guys to do the same C:

That will be set when this one ends. You're free to post another drawing for this theme, while you wait!

Oh sorry for being such a let down but I could spend hours working at drawing a pic and get something like that after which being draw to "try harder" is about as much fun as having your science fair project smashed.

The thing with art is that there are many ways to try and it's often not until someone gives you a push that you realise they exist. May be better wording would be 'now try something different'. What you do now is fine, but what you may do in future could be awesome.

Drawing well isn't a skill that everyone possesses, and it requires dedication and the right attitudes (there's even science to it! Play some music and get into it, stop worrying so much about going wrong, take your time like that, see what happens. If nothing else, it's therapeutic). People feel put down if they're not as good as others, but hey, I have near to no skills in putting together mechanisms or sewing, since it's not something I've tried to learn yet. It would be petty to feel bad about someone with more experience doing better than me, though I might feel hurt anyway. What I mean to say is, it's okay to be not too great, it's always okay to have someone better than you, but drawing is a skill (don't muddle that with talent - talent just means you pick it up quickly) and as with any skill you won't learn it if you don't try and try. Everyone feels bad about their level of skill, everyone, even the best, but dropping everything won't improve on that. You have to bounce back and give it another shot. Sometimes art is about not caring one day, then caring the next, it just makes it easier to get something done without stalling, then figure out what could be better. It's a tricky skill because you're translating what's in your head or before your eyes into a 2D image on paper, but trying to make it appear 3D and possibly living, guides can only help you so much to understand that process. The rest is trial and error.

I'm terrible at pep talks but I hope that got across what I wanted it to. orz

Well i clearly dont prossess this skill and are unable to improve since I GET NO FEEDBACK
(no pony lecture me on the incorect use of formal logic there i know the formal logic behind A -> B <=> ¬A -> ¬B)

And that reminds me maybe I'll try art when these people who complain about being unable to program DOWNLOAD A FREAKING COMPILER

If you're looking to start a lack of attention competition then you've honestly picked the wrong person. Should I screencap all the replies to your vector thread and your own posts reacting to faults in your own work? Feedback is no indication of potential or skill, you can get by by recognising things for yourself (as you have been) and working on them. People will be ignored or not receive critique for a variety of reasons, and usually it's no one's fault, just coincidental factors. I'm willing to bet critique is absent from a lot of pony forums because people don't want to come across as mean and so break rules. You're upset about your art as it is, nobody will want to upset you further by saying what's what. If you're trying just for praise then you're going about it wrong - it's your art, do what you like first and mind if people care about it second.

If you understand how frustrating it is to see people say 'baaw I can't...' without proper preparation or attempts then stop being one of those people right now. Either don't make art your big thing or get to it with a vengeance, dwelling on it and moaning at people won't help and could be regrettable later.

To everyone else, sorry for being a wordy prat. I don't mind 'bad art' in pony fandom but I do mind people complaining that things are impossible. It only feels impossible to make something you personally like, unless you have a physical disability preventing you from holding tools. Don't say it's impossible, don't hold yourself back because of others, don't have unrealistic standards to adhere to. Anyone who ever got good at art kept at it regardless of what people said or didn't say that may have put them off, and regardless of how bad they were on-off for the whole duration of trying. >:I
