That sounds absolutely amazing! Would you be able to do two ponified characters and Pinkie? If it's not too much to ask (if it is then just say), could you ponify Deadpool

and Dr McNinja, along with Pinke?

Just as a bit of background, Deadpool and Dr McNinja are absolutely insane, but everything seems to work. (The writer of Dr McNinja got a job writing Deadpool because they are so similar). Um, yeah, would that be okay?

Yeh, that's fine. I've already got the first few example images sorted out. Just need to work on flat colour and shaded ones, and I'll have it all sorted.

Here they are with the prices I'm thinking of charging attached. Obviously, since the whole point of this was to get me some preview images, and I haven't actually started taking commissions yet, I'm not charging you, but still, do these prices sound fair to you?

One or two character sketch: £0.00 Absolutely free!
    Example01.jpg

    +1 character: +£0.30
    Example02.jpg

    +Inked over: +£0.60
    Example03.jpg

    +Background: +£0.90
    Example04.jpg

    Comic-ify:
    • Single panel when you supply the words: +£0.60
    • Single panel when I get to make them up: +£0.50
    • Per page (3x4 panels or however much fits on an A4 page) when script is supplied: +£1.50
    • Per page (3x4 panels or however much fits on an A4 page) when I get to make it up: +£1.20
    Example05.jpg

And you just add together what you asked for to get the price. So, at this point, it's a 3 character, inked single panel where I made up the words, with a background, so that would be £2.30 if I were charging you right now.

    Thanks. :D

Thanks! :D If I get more people wanting commissions than I can handle, I'll probably push the prices up, but until I see that people actually want art from me, I'm ok with just getting something rather than nothing.

Also, I've done the full coloured one:

I hate backgrounds when I have to colour them. They're annoying enough when it's black and white.

    +Flat Coloured Characters: +£0.75
+Flat Coloured Backgrounds: x2 commission price
    Example 06.jpg

So, this is a single panel inked-in comic where I chose the script, with 1 extra character, flat colour characters and background, would be £6.10.

I was just about to reply after literally waving my arms around when I saw the alert for the coloured version. You sir, are awesome! The picture itself has already made my day, Pinkies face is priceless, but then so is the rest!!! Your prices are fair (seriously, you're practically GIVING them away). I also like how you've broken down the prices so that people can clear see how much it will cost them. In short, I reckon you're going to be drawing A LOT for people pretty soon.

Heheh, glad you like it! :D And I'm not sure how many people I'm going to be drawing for, just looking at the level of activity in the threads in Trading Corner at the moment, but still, it'd be nice to get some money in. :)

    And the final examplar image:

    +Shading: +£0.80
    Example07a.jpg
    So:
    - 3 characters (£0.30)
    - Inked (£0.60)
    - Background (£0.90)
    - Single Panel, written by me (£0.50)
    - Coloured Characters (£0.75)
    - Shading (£0.80)
    - Coloured Background (x2)
Which brings this picture to a total of £7.90.

Would that be a fair price for this if you were commissioning it?

The way I see it, making a thread is free, so you don't have anything to lose, you can only win. I'm looking forward to the day I can make money out of what I enjoy doing. But that's a few years away.

That would an absolutely phenomenal price! With the host of options, genius touch and simple charm, I can see people falling over themselves to commision you! Out of interest, how long did eacg stage take you?

Yeh, I'm going off to uni to do Animation in September, so hopefully that'll let me get a job where I draw for a living which is pretty much my goal. I've got this whole sort of animation industry career sketched out in my head. Graduate>Newbie Animator/Storyboard Arist>Storyboard Artist in UK studios>Take Over as Animation Director for a show>Storyboard Artist in US/Canadian Studio*cough*dhx*cough*>Get Another Director Role>Start Pitching My Own Ideas to Networks/Studios. I haven't worked out the specifics of moving from each step to the next, but that's largely because I don't fully know what the animation industry's going to look like by the time I get there.

How long it took? Looking at the time stamps on the image files, roughly 15 minutes between sketching and inking, give or take a couple of minutes for getting rid of dots, and the flat colours took maybe another 10-15 minutes, and probably less than 10 for the shading. It's one of the reasons I don't charge a lot - I get it done so quickly and easily that I feel like I'm ripping people off by charging "normal" rates on them. Although backgrounds p1ss me off. I despise them, but sometimes they have to be done. That's why I doubled the commission price if people ask for coloured ones.

Wow, you have a whole career planned out. Best of luck!!! Out of interest, which uni are you going to? Mine is just go to uni, get physics masters degree, work in astrophysics. You really do get them drawn quickly, so I suppose the prices make sense. I certainly wouldn't want to rip people off, especially when I'm doing something I enjoy.

I'm going to the University of the West of England, Bristol.

Yeh, you can see why I don't exactly charge premium rates.

Anywho, I think I'll go make that thread down in Trading Corner now. Thanks for the request! :)

Figured I might as well update this, even though I don't actually have a new drawing for it yet, but I'm shooting for a spot on that Summer Funimation project that got posted on EQD on Friday. So yeh, I hope that turns out well.

    :D Thanks!

Also, I came up with a new one after the whole fire-at-Bronycon incident. I think I might start up a Cafepress store just so I can sell this as a shirt. What d'you think?

I'm really quite pleased with the lighting on it. :)

Dude...I think that this is your best drawing yet!!! The shading on the legs, the fire, the expression, the FONT, everything is just amazing. If I were you i'd definately set up a store on cafepress or redbubble. Your style and wit really suits shirts.

I was watching the Tetrapony art challenge stream, and decided to have a go. Those people draw crazy fast. I tried to use the same time as the people who were actually on the stream, but I could only do these in the time it took them to do epic awesomeness.
