Most likely on the 21th (which is my birthday btw) and the 28th of July I'll be in the marshlands also known as 'Netherlands' to visit family. I'll be back on August 7th as on August 9th I'll be heading to London to see the finals of the Olympic Dressage.

In other words: have lots of fun

Well have a fantastic birthday, enjoy the myriad wonders of the netherlands (by which I mean sex clubs and legal pot dens), it is a shame you cannot attend, but worry not, it seems you will be enjoying watching horses anyway.

Well, I've lived in that country for quite some time, but never went to any sex club. They make me feel sad. When I studied in Utrecht I sometimes had exams in a sports complex and to get there I had to cycle through such a red-light district. Seeing all these cars queuing up - some with child seats in the back - made me think of Kronenburg Park's lyrics. And the legal pot: it actually isn't legal. Police will arrest you when you grow it. When you buy it in a coffeeshop you can use it there and that's it. Yet, to get their stock, coffeeshops need to tap in to the illegal production of pot.
In addition, I don't know whether it's just in the cities along the border (like Maastricht, Terneuzen and Venlo) that they recently prohibited selling pot to non-residents, but if that's true then pot is only available when you can proof you're living in the Netherlands.

Anyway, I never could be bothered trying pot. Or cigarettes for that matter.

Right, back on topic: I'm not sure yet whether I'll be in the Netherlands. It will all depend on how coming job applications go, whether I actually can afford the return ticket, and whether I can say goodbye to a very special (some)pony - a very cute Welsh Cob I work with - for those weeks.
