This came up in an introduction thread and, although it had support, was simply a derail and to get it to work it has to be pretty much set up before the thread (or whatever becomes of this) itself, so that's why this is in the miscellaneous section. Are you interested in a forum MLP roleplay, and which one would you pick is essentially the question.

I'd be up for it! I'm here often enough. Would it be as OC's or would we be assigned ponies?

I think that depends what you're doing and who's running it. I think most people would want OCs though.

I'm not sure. The derail didn't go into great detail but it was enough to have a seperate thread. The games mentioned required building a character, but it could be a mix of OC's and show characters in the end.

These were the two games mentioned in the derail:

Savage World of MLP, Roleplaying is Magic, although general MLP games can be found here

You didn't link the games you mentioned by the way, hahaha.
Just reading through Roleplaying is Magic S2E now. It's a really interesting game and looks easy as pie to pick up the rules even if you're new to pen and paper.

Is having played DnD qualification enough to play these?

Roleplaying is Magic is based on the d20 system of D&D but it's not nearly as daunting. Savage Worlds is based on, uh, Savage Worlds, a book I don't have.

Looking at them (a quick glance I might add), it seems that Roleplaying is Magic is much simpler, but Savage Worlds allows more flexibility and choices to be made.

I'd say you're verging on overqualified! I've played a bit, but not much.

Would definitely be interested in this, though it depends on the specifics.

But RiM is standalone, which is much handier.

Definately! Shall we lean towards RiM if nobody objects?

Silvarrn was running Pony D&D right? Not sure if that's still going but still.

I'm up for this as long as people don't start complaining about my OC being an alicorn.

I don't think there's set rules for alicorns in any of those, though I'd guess you'd just jumble together the pegasus and unicorn sheets.

RiM tries to stay as canon as possible. As the only alicorns are either princesses or suspected animation errors, they haven't created rules for them yet. If more aliconrs feature in season 3 then they will though.

Oh, I thought it was a forum-based thingy.

*Flaps his wings and zaps a cup of tea into reality*

    Something like that. :p

Yeah, if I can only choose earth pony, pegasus or unicorn then I can deal with that.

RiM seems good here, skimmed through the rules and it seems very adaptable.

Yeah but as it says pretty early on, the rules are just guidelines. Bending the rules or making your own spices things up as long as everyone's happy with it.
Most of the time if you want to mix races (which alicorns basically are) you just pick a mixture and check with the game master that it's balanced and acceptable to him or her. As this goes a lot by the D&D d20 rules picking from the pool of racial abilities and making sure the distribution of racial stats is somewhere that evens out halfway, which if you're just a player character will probably work fine. Alicorns are shown to be more powerful when it comes to the royal family but there's no canon about others, so you can just say that alicorn character just isn't the same strength as the royal family or something and it doesn't come out problematic.
    Just an idea.
Not sure why we don't have those here either. I guess there are other forums for it out there. Not my thing, but surprising considering the number of OCs people have.
There is the forum games forum after all.

RiM sounds good to me :) I've thumbed through the rulebook, but character creation may take a while.
