The thing is I've been debating which two parter in my head is better, Discord or the Wedding, and I'm sorry John de Lancie, I love ya but I think the wedding was better, the villain reveal was much more of a surprise, there were songs, the pacing felt so much better, both endings seemed rush but the wedding one felt a bit less rushed, I always felt the pacing of the Discord episode, at least the first part was way to fast, we were basically spoon fed exposition and I hate having that cause of Anime syndrome.

    Discord plus and cons
    +John De Lancie
    +Opposite elemental ponies
+Screwball and all the other whacky stuff (chocolate rain and exploding chocolate milk)
    -Spoon fed exposition
    -No songs
    -Ending felt way to rushed
-Fluttershy's corruption felt cheap and rushed making you wonder why he went through the trouble of setting up scenario's in the first place if it just takes a poke
-Celestia and Luna are no where to be seen helping the mane 6 with the villain and much rather be enjoying their golf game.
    Wedding episode
+New surprise villain with an awesome design
    +New race
    +3 great songs
+Every pony had a major part to play
+Celestia actually (well at least tried) helped for once
+The pacing was perfect (with a very small exception for the end)
    - Princess Cadence was a bit too much of a marie-sue
-The ending again felt a bit rushed but not as rushed as Discords
-Rarity didn't have a segment with the changelings (I would of loved to have seen a scene with her criticizing the changelings of minor in-corrections on their forms, like a flank being a bit too big)
-The end of part 1 when Twilight is implied to be offed or at least incapacitated and then it went into the really jarring happy credit music when it should of stayed silent for suspence
-TORI SPELLING TORI SPELLING TORI SPELLING TORI SPELLING TORI SPELLING TORI SPELLING TORI SPELLING TORI SPELLING

    That's my 2 cents anyway.

DAMMIT TWI, STOP SINGING IN MY HEAD WHEN I'M TRYING TO WORK.
    Ahem.
So I left a couple hours early with a "headache".

There's one thing that bugs me about this ep. The fight scene.
Yes, it was epic. Yes, it was awesome. Yes I freaking loved it.

But.... Okay, AJ and RD are pretty fit (RD seems to be familiar with the inside of a Dojo as well), Pinkie can just cheat and Twi is a freaking one-mare armoury.
But, even ignoring possible Fluttershy liability in a scrap, they're outnumbered by how much? These are Ponies, not Power Rangers (although if I don't see a link to pre-existing crossover fan-art within two pages, I shall be disappointed). Unless there's considerable undocumented time spent in a ponyville "self defence for young mares" class every week, large scale melee battles just shouldn't be in their skillsets.
Sorry, shouldn't have won that one.

    But who cares? Eyecandy!

what i find quite funny theres alot of background dust in the fight meaning the changelings are clearly getting muddle up with the real ponys aswell

I know it's hardly an argument, but I'm going with the train of thought whereby with so many minions it would be difficult to train them to a sufficient level without a long period of time. They were outnumbered maybe 8 to 1, but because the passage was quite narrow there were a bunch of minions doing nothing the majority of the time. That's how Sparta nearly won the battle of Themopoli, even though they were outnumbered on a similar scale. I may have to reference you to Dr McNinja for the inverse ninja rule as well.

Heavy Weapons Pinkie must have taken out a few, and considering the music segment during the silhouette perhaps they are The One (or would that be The Six)

Don't bother yourself, I know McNinja (and so should everypony else!).
The Mane six are not Spartans, alas. You could say the changelings are also untrained, get in each others way and possibly suffering from starvation, but I can't think of a argument that really works without Our Heroes having some edge that they can lever it with.
Stuffit. You know what? I'm not going to try and dissect the logic, I'm just going to ignore it and have fun. It doesn't HAVE to make sense.

    Carry on.

Ah, but she had some EXCELLENT moments. Twi had most of the screentime, but of all the rest, Rarity got the best bits.

Taking this into account, you do make a good point.
But I'd guess the only reasonable explaination is that the changelings are pathetically weak. We can assume that the only way they can become more powerful is like Cadence said, by shapeshifting and feeding off love. But they were just minions, and I'd think Chrysalis was relying on masses to frighten all the residents and take over Canterlot, and didn't expect anypony to actually fight back, in which case they would be useless, as we can see in this fight scene. There may be a few exceptions however, as we do see two of the royal guards tied down at one point, so there is possibly a small number that have gained some power and can actually do some damage; but otherwise, the majority is still just like a swarm of flies.

Huh, I sometimes forget how fun over analysing this show can be ^.^

You have a point, but they all had rather funny moments, I just thought it would of been funny to have her spot out the minor details/mistakes in the changelings transformations and complain her ones into submission kind of like "Oh darling, Rainbow Dash is rather fat but her flank isn't THAT big..." I thought things like that would of been hilarious, I was actually surprised they didn't do it.

To be honest, it was an effective tactic. Sheer numbers caused havoc, not a small well trained group. Also, a horde later defeated the mane 6. Spamming was the best plan.
