Nice to know I'm not going crazy, although I did laugh for a good 3 minutes, looping it over and over XD

I just watched the finale last night, been behind on my episodes as I watched them on YouTube and Season 1 was already finished by the time I heard about the show..

This Day Aria is the best song from the series so far! :D

Has anypony else noticed the armoured changeling? Looks like they do have some sort of ranking, it must be their captain...

The one to its right has some kind of back plate too. Maybe his second in command.

I never noticed that before and I have to watch that scene many times when making my Ponies Assemble PMV, just goes to show how observant I am (and I'm supposed to be a forensic investigator ... sort of, LOL)

    That's actually pretty cool :D

I just need to get this off my chest, did anypony else think that if they where Twilight they would've felt quite betrayed when her bestest bud's chose to side with a random Alicorn over her?

Very true, also, it looks like they didn't learn their lesson in Lesson Zero, you know, the one where they were supposed to take their friends worries seriously.

Also the point after chrysalis revealed herself wouldn't exist because I would just be saying I told you so for like 20 mins

i think i would be and i think twilight felt more betrayed when her mentor (to put it into my own words) "completely snubbed her".

Ha. Interesting. It sort of does, doesn't it? Kinda cool.

On a completely different note, I am not sure if it has been pointed out before, but, while I do think the episode is awesome, fun, heartwarming and in general just amazingly enjoyable, I would honestly argue that it does not fulfill its function as season finale terribly well. It's a great episode, don't get me wrong, but for it to be a great season finale it has to really wrap up the season. It has to take the second season and its themes and tie it together neatly and then put a cherry on top of it.

I mean, the entire second season we focus on each of these beloved characters (EVEN SPIKE got his own episode) and there were only very few episodes were the six friends were really all together and involved in the plot and then the season finale comes along and every other character is pushed aside in order to focus more on Twilight? Of course, there is nothing wrong with focusing certain episodes on certain characters, but a season finale should not really do that, imo.

I don't know. Just food for thought, I guess. Still enjoyed the heck out of that episode!

That's an interesting point and I agree. Thing is, there was no season long story arc to focus on like there was in season 1 with the Gala, so it would have been difficult to get a feeling of bringing everything from season 2 together if there was nothing that had been going on in the background for the whole of season 2.
I actually think the finale (season 3 spoilers)
    Show Spoiler
was more of a set up for season 3 by bringing in Cadance
rather than a way of rounding off season 2.

Production value-wise, and for sheer epic spectacle, it was hard to fault this one... nonetheless, I still prefer 'The Best Night Ever': It nicely subverted the Disney aesthetic rather than attempting to capture it (as I felt was the case with 'A Canterlot Wedding'), and I felt it was "tied up" better.

Still... 'This Day Aria'? Hard to buck wit'. 'Love is in Bloom' is classy too.

    Oh... and this face:

I really do feel like the last person in brony-dom to see this! I watched it today and oh my SWEET CELESTIA!!!!!! The songs were fantastic, I loved Chrysalis and roughed-up Cadance. I LOVED IT ALL!!! Except the length... it still seemed too short but then so was Discord's (chocolate) reign.

One thing I did notice, and I'm sorry if it has been mentioned before, but in the shot where Dr Whoves is cowering away from the changelings at the back of an ally way with a mare and a filly... That other pony so should have had a rose based Cutiemark! Just sayin' ;)

Great idea! They could have used Roseluck for that easily enough. :)

I haven't rewatched them in ages, I'll have to before the new series though. They don't strike me as good "can watch 100 times" material.
