As suggested by Absentia (and a few others) at the post-Party in the Park party last night, here is a thread where you can talk all about that kind of mode of transport that is on rails!

Do you like steam trains, diesel trains, or electric trains?

I'm not really one for knowing where all the train lines go, but I do know quite a bit about locomotives and rolling stock.

The sort of stuff like the really long ore-carrying trains that are owned by the Robe River Company, in Australia.

Yesterday, my train dream came true: I rode two types of Electrostars (a 378, and a 377)!

Being a child who grew up addicted to Thomas the Tank Engine, it's no "Surprise" (Ha I did it again!) that I'm a fan of trains too. I love travelling to meetups on the train, which is why I decided to give my OC a train track for a cutie mark.

    I'm a rail nut :D
Very passionate about the railways and hopefully going to be working in that industry in the future.

I'm a steam person at heart though. Not to say I don't mind modern stuff, but steam has a certain character. Even made a documentary on it last year :D

i find trains fine when on my own but with friends finding seats is such a pain and there is always that one person with all their baggage all on their own taking up the seats with the table -.-'

    Thanks Aurum for making this.

Now to break out some rail controversy...

    Pacers. Discuss.
Also, BR mkIII's being fitted with automatic plug doors... It's a crime against being able to have access to fresh air.

Christ no! It's bad enough there's no HSTs or 91s in Intercity Swallow livery any more. The MK3s with the classic doors need to stay!

By the way, I'm obsessed with Intercity and Network South-East livery. Don't believe me? Just check here and you'll be convinced instantly :D
And of course, same with NSE

Also be warned, if anyone ever says First Capital Connect is awesome... I will slap you ;)

Also the original comfy bucket seats. Like sitting in first class with those. Cant be bad.
Chiltern are the first operator to order and receive the modified Mk3s. The new doors look terribly out of place and I hear there's a talk amongst other TOCs about doing the same. It's the end of fresh air and hello to stale vestibules. Still wont be as bad a voyager though.
