Romero looked frantically around the bar for anyone to help him out. He was afriad to ask any of the pegasi to fly over and get his bag, because of the remarks he had made earlier. He took a quick glance back at his things, and noticed that an athletic-looking mare had taken refuge atop of the chair his bag was on. He ran to edge of the bar table. He let out a loud, high-pitched whistle, and jerked his head backwards.

"AY! AY, YO!", his Riversdalian accent bleeding through his words as he yelled across the bar, "AY, COULD CHU BE A DOLL AN' THROW DAT BAG OVAH HERE?"

The sounds of panicked ponies, and rising water which rippled on the floor beneath Heartstoker, meant that she had a problem in hearing things clearly. Not only that, but she was distracted by the shivering that seemed to have taken over her body even more since drinking the strange liquid. When the Riversdale pony shouted to her from across the bar, she had no chance of hearing him correctly.
“What? Could you roll.. that bag.. off the chair? Umm… okay?” With that she rotated on the chair so she faced the back of it, where the bag leant up against the wood. She put one of her front hooves on it, and got ready to roll it off and into the strange liquid below, the silvery substance that continued to rise without any sign of stopping.

Making idle chatter to the folk he was sat with, Axlebolt was broken from his doings by the loud crash as the bar door flew across the bar. Turning his attention to the source of the problem, he noticed the floodwaters gushing in. Before it could reach him, he got up and jumped on the table to prevent himself from getting any wetter than he had been that day. Upon getting to a firmer stance, he observed the watery substance, except it had a metallic sheen to it.
"Floods are one thing, but this is a completely different matter" he muttered to no-one in particular. Looking around, he saw Heartstoker nearby, propping herself on a chair, yet seemed to be more concerned with the item on itself. Leaving them be, he turned his attention to the mule, still sat stoic, his only utterance; "I'm wet."
Axlebolt, ever curious, wondered why the mule hadn't seen to move himself like the rest of the bars' occupants had.

Romero kept his eyes fixed on the mare by his bag. She put a hoof on the bag. Oh, good! She heard me, and she's getting my bag. Romero thought. Then the mare put another hoof on the bag. Wait a minute... She's pushing the bag into the water! What is she, stupid? "WHAT THE--" Romero then stopped his thought. He put his hoof to his mouth, and let out a higher, longer, LOUDER whistle.

"AY! AAAY!" Romero waved his hooves in the air, trying to get her attention again. Then he noticed that something wasn't quite right with her, but he couldn't tell what. Okay, so she's obviously sick or something, and maybe partically deaf. So, yelling my lungs out at her won't do no good. I have to try something else. Think, man, think! Romero continued to wave his hooves in the air. Then, he motioned his hooves in a 'gimme-gimme' motion, hoping she'd take the hint.

The brown pony across the bar whistled once again, distracting Heartstoker from her task. Shivering, she stared at him, trying to hear what he said this time. Instead of shouting, he moved his hooves in a beckoning motion towards himself. The silver liquid was clearly having some strange effect on Heartstoker, and she was only able to decipher the simple gesture after some thought. “OH, WHY DIDN’T YOU SAY SO!” With that she grabbed the backpack, before jumping up onto two hooves, somehow maintaining her balance on the small chair. Though she primarily practiced her batting, many days spent training with new players of all specialties meant she had developed a mean fastball, and despite the backpacks heavier weight she managed to send it rocketing through the air with quite a considerable force.

Returning to a position with all four hooves on the chair, she tried to figure out her next move. There were no items of furniture near enough to safely jump onto, and in less than a minute the silver water would be over the base of the chair and she would be in it once more. The extreme coldness within her continued to make it hard to think straight. A box floated past on the water, an overturned and empty crate of the same non-alcoholic cider she almost had a chance to drink earlier. Seeing little other choice, she jumped in, and luckily the box was able to support her light weight.

Romero saw the green backpack hurdling towards him. He widened his stance, and put his head down low with his flank in the air. Timing his jump perfectly, his caught the bag with his teeth. All that basketball playing came in handy! The momentum of the bag took him by suprise, and it threw him off balance. He landed awkwardly. He nearly fell of the table! But after struggling a bit, he managed to regain his balance. He sat down and put his bag in front of him. His first order or buisness was to check to see if his passport and all other associated documents were okay. They were. He breathed in a sigh of relief. He continued to dig around in his bag checking off everything in his head including clothes, soap, and other nessicities. He found his camera. The film inside looked okay, and there seems to be no water damage whatsoever. Some of the pictures he had taken had got a little wet, but that was okay. Considering the circumstances, it could have been MUCH worse. He was still digging around his bag when he found his beloved portable 8-Track player.

"You missed your daddy, didn't you?" Romero said lovingly as he cradled the tan-colored device like a newborn foal. He gave his plastic piece of heaven a tender kiss on the speaker. Just as he did this, he looked up and noticed the bartender giving him a look of disgust. Romero came back down from Mars for a minute, and realised that he didn't know whether it worked or not. This wasn't like his camera, which he could take apart and SEE if it was okay. Nope, this time he had to PLAY something.
He dug though his bag again and found an 8-Track tape, he stuck it into the side of the player, and turned it on.

First he heard a soft violin. Then, he heard a bass. After that, the drums kicked in. Finally, a deep tender voice sang the words to a slow, sweet, soulful love song. Romero wasn't playing the song very loud, and the song itself was soft. Despite this, somehow or another, the song seemed to cut through the noise and confusion, and slowly filled the dark, wet bar.

Peppy grumbled and shook some of the filthy rainwater from his hooves before wringing out his tail. He sighed, and looked around for something resembling a rubber air container. He had an idea, as he usually did.

Rumulus couldn't help but snicker at the confusion between Heartstoker and the odd sounding brown pony at the other end of the bar, he had to stop and re-focus his mind for a moment. With a quick shake of his head he was back in the room, his face squinted with anticipation of the oncoming headache, but nothing came, he was fine.

"Whew, glad that's wore off" he said to himself in a broken murmur.

He glanced around the half flooded room, trying to come up with a plan, or spot somepony who may have one of there own, another loud crash of thunder shook the space that surrounded him. A loud scream could be heard from outside, not a scream, but a screech, like rusty horseshoes on a chalkboard. Everypony in the bar was silenced from there panicking and disorder as the sound occurred again, this time louder... or closer?

Struggling to speak he muttered to himself, slowly increasing in volume, his head still darting around the room"we have to... we have... WE HAVE TO... DO... SOMETHING! the only words he could think to say, suddenly all eyes were on him. "We can't just stay in here, we'll drown if nothing else, can anypony think of somewhere we can go? somewhere high? We have to get above this water and it's not slowing down, it'll be above the rooftops in a matter of minutes."

    "Does anyone have an idea?"

Eiro who had been sitting in the corner daydreaming to herself before the flood was now hovering high in the room trying trying to keep from getting to wet in the liquid, it seemed to have caused a huge panic alright though she was more concerned about finding a way out she had become aware of the noise from outside but the more impending issue needed to be dealt with first, her first thought was to try and break a whole in the wall to drain the liquid but that would weaken the buildings structure and most likely cause it to collapse, the only other thing she could think of was breaking a hole in the roof to exit from but that could just give another entrance for the liquid to flow in from, even if that option was the only one beside her there seemed to only be one other pegasus in the room and he had seemed to break out in a panic.

the noise in the room was making it hard for her to think clearly her attention was brought to the other pegasus "calm down, just take a deep breath" she called "this water is coming from those clouds so all we have to do is get rid of them" she said but the problem still stood that they had no exit to the building... not without making one anyway, she began tapping on the roof to look for a weak or hollow patch to try and break a hole through.

The music playing from his 8-track brought ease to Romero's mind. The song was near it's end when one of the older stallions from across the table and came up to him.

"TURN THAT ACCURSED THING OFF!" the elder pony yelled.

Romero turned off his 8-track player, and stood up. "Geez ol' man, who poked holes in your happy sail?" Romero replied sarcasticly. The older pony was about to give him a piece of his mind when a loud screech from outside caught the attention of everypony in the pub. There was a eerie silence, then the sound occured again. This time even LOUDER!

"What the..." were the only words he could manage to say. Mass panic overtook the bar. Romero put his hooves to his head. Without his music soothing him, he had begun to worry. How much water is coming down? Are the walls of this place strong enough to hold it off? Are they going to collapse? Is there anyway out of here? If the do get out there, who or what is out there waiting for us? Because something is out there. SOMETHING. IS. OUT THERE! He was in complete dispair.

Heartstoker, still sailing within the box that now functioned as her means of staying afloat, had been thinking hard on the best course of action. In no time at all the water would be at a very dangerous level, and it didn’t seem to be draining away fast enough to prevent the bar from being flooded completely. The combination of music, ponies shouting and panicking, and the torrential rain made it difficult to hear anything. But then, something finally came to her. She looked around, and luckily found what she was after. A broom was floating on the surface of the water, and she managed to grab it without having to touch any more of the strange liquid. Still shivering, she thought back to the first experience she had with it and had no desire to be anywhere near it again. She used the handle to push herself level with the bar, passing the bartender on the way, who was floating on a chair.

“What’re ye gonna do with that?!” he shouted above the racket, a look of confusion mixed into the panic in his face.
“Is the cellar unlocked, old man?” Heartstoker replied hurriedly.
“No, but here be the keys!” He threw them towards Heartstoker, still holding the broom.
    “Wait no I can’t-”
It was too late, and the keys sailed past Heartstoker and into the liquid. She didn't have time to react with the broom occupying both her hooves, and by the time she dropped it they were already gone. She quickly picked the broom back up and looked down at the ripples the keys had left. It was likely they were on the bar counter: not quite at the bottom of all the water, but it’d still require somepony to become completely submerged.
“Heh.. well, guess I don’t have much choice right now..” With that, she stretched out to the end of the box and took a deep breath.

Eiro's train of thought was once again broken by hearing another pony mention a cellar "i dont want to be the bearer of bad news but i don't think opening a the cellar will be the best option in this situation" she said, sure the water would rush down there meaning the main room would fill slower but it would be more than just the water pulled into the cellar those who couldn't fly would be washed down there in the current that would be created.

Rumulus took the advice of the Pegasus Mare at the corner of the room and took a deep breath, he continued to assess the situation and immediately noticed Heartstoker who seemed to be preparing to dive head first into the glistening liquid, just as she leant forward, Rumulus heard a voice warning her not to go down towards the cellar door, the same voice who had told him to calm down.
Knowing this Pegasus was thinking straight and seeing that Heartstoker had not heard the warning, seemingly too focused on the task she was about to undertake, Rumulus shot forwards across the room within an inch of Heartstoker's ear and yelled "WAIT!"
He was not sure as to why he was was stopping her, but looked towards the Dark Grey pegasus, taking Heartstoker's gaze with his own, both of them hoping for an explanation.

looking at both ponies that where looking her direction seeming to want to know her reasoning "listen the cellar is under this stuff right, meaning if the door gets open its all gonna rush down there" She began to explain as to why she didn't feel its a good idea "and if that happens you guys will be pulled down aswell, it will be like water draining from a bathtub anything in or on the liquid will be pulled with it" she finished with a serious look in her eye, that would be the icing on the cake of panic if they where all struggling not to get drained into the cellar.

"Oh of course, I hadn't even thought of that, it was a good idea though Heartstoker, just not the best"

Suddenly the loud patter of rain on the roof stopped, the water lay perfectly still and a silence fell upon the room, Rumulus poked a hoof to his ear and gave it a shake as if to check for deafness.

Looking down he noticed the once metallic liquid now lay there unmoving, solid in appearance,
"I gotta check this out" he said quietly to himself.

Rumulus picked up a glass which lay near by and leant forward try and scoop up a sample.
Placing the glass on the surface it was clear that the substance hadn't completely hardened, he sunk the glass into the viscous liquid and pulled it out to inspect it closer.
Holding the half-full high-ball up to the nearest light source, which seemed to be coming from in a window high up in the tavern, the origin of the light unknown as of yet as it was very much night outside. light
Peering into the glass he could see particles inside beginning to illuminate, as more and more of them shone with the same eerie glow they became increasingly frantic, darting back and forth, bumping into one another.

    "What the...?"
His head tilted and ears pricked back, eyes closed in as if to focus more closely on the strange dance happening before him.

It was clear they were all aiming for the very centre of the glue like substance, shooting towards each other, spiralling then spreading out again, causing the light inside to pulsate, almost like a heartbeat, until one of the glowing specs bounced off the edge of the glass. This sudden action caused the other lights to halt their rhythmic movement, in turn they each began to aim for the side of the glass. They began to pound against the side, like police barging down a doorway.

"Whoa" He said in shock, as he moved the glass further from his face, leg completely outstretched in fear of what was about to happen.
The lights had now all matched their pattern once more and were about to launch to the side of the glass,

"You probably want to cover your eyes"
He said to the ponies beside him, holding a hoof over his own eyes but still peering through he saw the glass shatter into tiny pieces, the particles of light scattered in the air and fell to the liquid below. The entire pool that filled the bar lit up now emitting an immense glow which quickly died down to the brightness of a normal room at midday.

Looking around he could see a few pairs of eyes fixed on him, possibly hoping for an explanation, a one he knew he didn't have. Some looked distraught and upset, he said the only words he could think of.

    "Is everyone OK?"

The tavern was still quiet. It was no longer raining, and there was almost no sound. The only thing that was heard was a faint howling of the wind from outside, and the sound of doors and window shutters clapping against the walls they were connected to as they danced along with the wind. Other than that, there was nothing. Absolutely nothing. Not one peep from anypony in the bar. The silence wasn't a welcome one, it had an eerie vibe to it.

Romero just sat there in a daze. Staring off into the vast nothingness, mouth open, mind racing. It was they only thing he knew how to do when the world was seemingly crashing down all around him. His eyes glossed over, and he slowly hung his head. The normally cool and calm Romero just sat there keeping his emotions in check. Even that was a big task. Soon it was like he didn't have control anymore. He snapped.

"WE'RE ALL GONNA DIE!" he yelled at the top of his lungs. The other ponies in the pub where quick to join him in his panic.

“What.. what the..” Heartstoker was stunned. After the shouts of the surrounding ponies, she had decided against diving into the water, and now she was glad she did so. Having seen the results of Rumulus’ ‘testing’ of the water, it was quite possible that the water could in fact be..
“alive? Is that stuff.. alive? It’s all glowy and.. moving?” Genuinely confused, a look of fright then spread to her face as she remembered that earlier she had in fact drank some of the substance while she stood in it. Though she didn’t appear to be suffering any adverse effects currently, she had no idea what to expect after seeing just how.. fierce.. the water and the particles within it seemed to be.

"It's not like anything I've seen before, kinda pretty though..."
"Pretty? Since when do I think things are pretty?""Awesome I mean, pre... damn awesome"

With a cough to clear his throat, he pondered Heartstoker's question.

"Alive? Definitely, I ain't seen nothing dead move like that before. We need to try and find out what this stuff is, where it came from, the town is probably in a state too, someponies should check if everyone is OK.

after witnessing the what the substance did to the glass Eiro took her attention from trying to find an exit that wouldn't cause the building to cave in to examine the liquid, "Strange, if this stuff lives how did it come from a cloud?" she said poking the surface with a hoof, although there was no ripple effect that would have occurred with any other liquid.

while examining the substance she heard a suggestion from the other pegasus "the town is probably in a state too, someponies should check if everyone is OK."

"id expect its in more than just a state" she said thinking on all those screams from outside "anyway right now we need to find a way out" she stated resuming her search.

"You're probably right, as for a way out, well now that the rain has stopped, I say we just" Rumulus tilted to one side to allow the Mare to see past him and also look behind himself. "Fly out of the door... hole" With a sly smirk on his face he turned back towards her to judge her reaction and get a response.

"Oh, and the name's Rumulus by the way."
