You know what, folks - I'm stunned. We have 32 pages of 'games' threads and not a one about the Fallout series.

Not one Liberty Prime appreciation thread. No trace of debate over whether Joshua Graham or Ulysses was the biggest badass. Not a single fanboy flipping out because OMG MARCUS CAMEO!!1!

I'm a HUGE Fallout fan and I know some of you must be too, so we need to pull together and rectify this injustice - especially since Fallout 4 seems to be creeping ever closer to the light of day.

If you happen to be a Fallout fan, and you haven't heard of survivor2299 yet, this could...possibly...be the best day you've had all year. Until December 11th, of course...

Is this teaser website a complex hoax, or something far more exciting? What do we think?

I'm also a massive fan of Fallout, although I'm ashamed to say I haven't personally played FO1/2/Tactics. I just love the lore and setting so much, combining a post apocalyptic world with the 1950's setting for a dark and gritty survive 'em up with all the benefits of said era, especially the music. I spent so many freaking hours exploring the Capital wasteland in FO3, and getting chased around the I-15 by Cazadors/Deathclaws in NV, I'm really pumped for any new titles, especially those made by Bethesda. Skyrim improved on Oblivion massively, in a number of ways, so I'm interested in seeing if they can do the same with whatever they may come out with next for Fallout.

I also really love Fallout Equestria (especially Project Horizons), as it combines two of my favourite franchises. Two which should never have fitted together in theory but worked out so well in practice.

For those of you who haven't seen the survivor site yet, here it is: http://thesurvivor2299.com/

That's without a doubt Fallout related with the Vault-Tech logo at the bottom. I honestly think it's legit, seems a bit too subtle to be a hoax, to me at least.

I'm a huge fan of Fallout too. Been playing them since well... The late 90's. Currently replying Fallout Tactics on steam :) and I'm writing a FoE story myself.
Actually I'm kind of a fallout buff lol.

My thoughts exactly - I guess I really want it to be legit, you know?

I remember being unable to sleep the night before Fallout: New Vegas came out - like proper, kid-at-Christmas insomnia. :D I guess I'm pinning my hopes on this a little.

I loved Fallout Equestria too, but I haven't read Horizons - am I missing out?

Someone told me that apparently that Vault Tec logo only appeared a few days ago, don't know if that add to or reduces the credibility of it being a legit site or not. I can definitely understand that sleepless feeling, I've spent many a night waiting feverishly waiting for games to unlock on Steam after midnight releases. NV was one of those games, and tbh few games have made me interested enough to do that in recent years. This though, will almost certainly be one of those games though. I'm interested in seeing what the location will be this time, and if they'll be sticking to America where all the established lore is, or if they'll branch out to somewhere else. Would be interesting to see what propaganda exists in other countries and how they got on post-apocalypse.

On the subject of Project Horizons, I'd absolutely say so. It's a massive improvement over the original IMO, and I really liked Blackjack (the main character) to the point I decided to cosplay her at MCM. She's a lot more interesting as a character, and I'd say the cast were a bit stronger than Littlepip's group. It's a huge step up from FO:E in terms of darkness and the things the main character has to deal with and the ordeals she has to face (it gets extremely... messed up and only gets worse in that regard as it goes on). Only thing I'd really say is that it gets a bit OTT at times to the point of occasionally being (I assume) unintentionally silly at times. I'd definitely recommend it thoughh, as it's pretty much a straight up improvement over the original.

Hehe I was at a midnight opening for New Vegas :) there was no sleep had for nearly two days.

As for if it's legit, it looks like it. But I've been looking into the coding a little and that throws some doubt into it. It's also registered in Europe but not in the US (as far as I can tell) that makes it seem a bit odd.

Project Horizons is pretty good, although I've only been listening to Crazed Ramblings YouTube channel of readings for it and he's kind of stopped for now due to college and stuff. In fact I would say I think it's better than Fallout Equestria itself but that's my opinion.

Awesome - will have to give Horizons a read when I can. It does fit with the 'cannon' of F:E, right?

I'm betting it'll be set in/around the Commonwealth - if I could pick though...

...hmm, I'm not sure I could! The East Coast is amazing but I did really fall in love with the Mojave and it's surroundings. I guess I'm happy to trust that wherever we get to go, we'll love that place just as much as the Mojave & the Capital Wasteland.

Yeah, it's the uncertainty that is so annoying - it IS registered to ZeniMax though, which gives me hope.

So what did you guys make of F3 & F:NV? Got any cool tales from the Wastes to share? I once shot a Gui and it ragdolled clear across the map, which was funny as hell at the time. I guess maybe you had to be there. :p

True it is Zenimax.... Totally glazed over it.

Actually the rumours I've heard suggest it would be set I Europe. That could be interesting as they've hinted at that before. But yes of the existing locals I would want the Commenwealth or The Institue to play a much heavier role. Always felt they didn't do enough with it in F3, I have a few stories :) more with F3 than F:NV. I liked New Vegas but I felt it didn't get really good until the DLC was out. I loved following in the footsteps of ulysses.

Lonesome Road was EPIC - I loved it, the culmination of the story, how the Divide looked and Ulysses was just a gift of a character. The swag you got to bring back was fantastic too; I took a serious nose-dive in reputation with the NCR for that Scorched Sierra Power Armor! Wish they'd given us a helmet to go with it, but hey-ho. The not-Lanius-but-close-enough armor was great too.

I did love the DLC for New Vegas: it certainly had the edge over F3 DLC since it had the Ulysses storyline woven through it. Each episode had it's own charm, something that made it stand out. Dead Money was was great because it succeeded in feeling survival/horror. The Ghost People were scary enough, but with the Cloud and the other traps around the villas and casino made the whole place feel hostile. The story is also remarkable in itself. Honest Hearts was just beautiful - I really want to go to Zion National Park one day, just to scope the place out. Joshua Grahame was such a dude - I never did figure out how he managed to speak clearly through all that wrapping.
Old World Blues was a heck of a lot of fun - lots of little tidbits about Ulysses, great weapons to take home and, of course, the best piece of real estate in the game - The Sink.

F:3 DLC was great too, don't get me wrong - The Pitt gets my vote for best DLC for how it looks and feels - especially out in the steelyard - damn, those Trogs were creepy! I also think it had the best storyline we've seen in any DLC so far. Operation Anchorage & Mothership Zeta were great for swag...though I am to this day disappointed that the Winterized US Army Overcoat (General Constantine Chase's coat) was bugged to the point of being unobtainable. :(

I loved mothership zeta too! I remember arguing with the 'purists' that said it didn't fit with the theme of Fallout.... That made my head hurt. I had to point out that in the original fallout you could find Morte from Planescape torment and in Fallout 2 you can go back in time and cause the water chip to break, this setting off the events of The first game. So being abducted by aliens was completely plausible!

Oh yeah and there were the knights who say ni from Monty Python!

Haven’t played Fallout for some time, 3 was my first time playing Fallout and I remember 3 came out on the same day my sister was getting married.
Also I like the TARDIS making a cameo from the first Fallout, they should do it again.

Horizons is great and INHO surpasses the original. Cannon wise it take place at pretty much the same time with BlackJack and Littlepip starting their journeys around the same time, and as of chapter 62 the enclave are pretty much about to start 'Operation Cauterise'. At a couple of points the two stories intersect (i.e. during lil'pips' removed memories).
There are some points where there are some big contradictions. The main one I think of is that it has a flashback showing Big Mac's death, which apparently is from being hit with an anti-mat rifle. This is funny considering that anti-mats were made by Braeburn to counteract the new zebra armours that were copied from the steelranger armour which was created by AJ in response to Big Mac's death.

Well there was that one message over the NCR Emergency Radio during the Second Battle of Hoover Dam.

    "Bravo-Bravo-Charlie, The Doctor is coming!"

    You never know!

That's the kind of paradox we need The Doctor for. :D

A bit of the old fallout time travel could fix that.... actually.... Just making a note to create a 'fix' for that in my FoE fanfic (currently in planning stage).

I rationalise it away because the memory wasn't seen through an orb, but through an *takes a deep breath* involuntary shared memory via a taint/radiation induced tumour allowing an adhoc connection to the collective Unity of the Goddess and experienced through a dream whilst under stress.

Only a few, I'm still piecing it together.

It's going to be set prior to Lil' Pip, and I'm mixing a bit of lore from The S.T.A.L.K.E.R series, nothing much but enough to add some spice.

Essentially the main character will be a special type of scavenger known as a Stalker, they deal with highly irradiated and dangerous areas, it's extreme risk high pay work. One day his boss, who goes by the name Descent, disappears before giving our protagonist his pay. At the same time the Steel Rangers raid the place as Stalkers tend to horde 'unusual' technologies.
These events force him to start exploring the wastes in search of answers.... And his money.

Those that have played S.T.A.L.K.E.R or read Roadside Picnic will know of anomalies that are caused by high radiation and that Stalkers have to wear special gear.
I also intend to have the protagonist as a earth pony, no magic for this guy,

Funnily enough a while back i started writing a FoE fanfic, which actually features the Doctor but haven't touched it for some time. I still got pages and pages of notes i made on it and still come up with ideas for it.
I was just having trouble with my main character. Went through about a dozen different permutations on origins/background/race/etc and couldn't really come up with one i liked for the story.

That I would very much liked to read, even though I'm not up on modern Doctor Who.

Latest code on that 2999 site translates as: ”the quabbin reservoir is seven zero four two two nine nine”.
Which is a hint to the Commonwealth.

found this series of youtube vids a while back which is all about the franchise's lore.
