I didn't enjoy the first episode all that much, hopefully the second suits me better

I've quit watching it. Season 3 wasn't good and I just want to avoid Cumberbatch as much as possible.

Primarily, it's because he's made some rather off-colour comments about disabled people - he went to a special-needs school to do research for a role as Frankenstein's monster, which already has unfortunate implications, and then during an interview said something about how "it's all about bodily functions with them" and various other quite nasty things. He's been quite snappy about fans headcanoning his characters as neurodivergent too, almost getting offended by it.
Also, there was an incident wherein it was discovered that his family had owned slaves - he denied it first and then I believe tried to minimize it - oh, they were kind to their slaves, that sort of malarkey. Obviously, it's not his fault his ancestors were involved in such things but he did not at all handle the issue well.
Just generally, he seems a bit ignorant about anything outside his own very upper-class, very privileged life.

I suppose that precisely as an actor, he gets away with that kind of thing: the person seems to get portrayed through his characters, his characters are interpreted by the internet and so his character is interpreted, too. I struggle to think of him as much outside of what fourth-hand depictions of Sherlock Holmes have suggested to me. Thanks for the hopefully well-founded information (I'm too lazy to check, but I never have anything to do with him anyway, so).

Posting after one of these now a days is harder than winning this thread.

Never got into Sherlock, myself. Was always more of a Jeremy Brett fan really (after book Holmes, of course).

Elementary is by far the superior modern-AU Holmes adaptation. Gives its audience more than 3 episodes every other year, as well.

I couldn't get in to Elementary when I watched an episode or two of it.

Anyway this is clearly the far superior adaptation...

Holmes fights a T. rex. With bonus cryptozoological creatures.
Not gonna lie, I'd watch that.

    Haaate 720p60 resolution.

Just started watching Jacksepticeye, he's pretty funny. Enjoyed his Reigns playthrough.

Ed.: Obama's farewell speech was great. He's a good guy.

    Ed.: Sleeples.
