Thought I'd start this off... Me and Starry had a good day, thanks everyone who bought beads! It was nice to see old friends again as well as some new faces (to me anyway, I don't make it to every meet) The sound system issues did put a slight dampener on the day but otherwise it was good We had to leave early because Starry was not feeling 100%, but next time we will stay longer Hope you all have a good time in Fab cafe!
Shaun was there. Shaun was a nuisance. Shaun was fluorescent. Shaun won the fanfic competition. Shaun left his fanfic on the table. Shaun is sad. Sad Shaun. All in all though, it was a really good day. Didn't sit behind the music thing all day this time, so I actually talked to people and stuff. 2nd in the quiz, 1st in the fanfic competition. Also, if anypony happens to have picked that up and fancies typing it up or scanning it, it'd be much appreciated. Now though, I must make Forza happen.
I had a great afternoon Hopefully next time I'll be able to have a few drinks and stay a bit later! also I got a cool drawing of Derpy driving a muffin shaped Dodgem car!
"Gabe Newell"'s signature in a fancy tin - best £8 ever spent. And yes, God wasn't pleased that you weren't very good at tearing the paper out of your book. Aside from that, wrote a lovely fanfic about a G1 pony that wasn't at all weird (it's going on FimFiction soon), and of course met up again with some familiar faces. All in all, a very good day.
Thanks for a great day everyone, best Manechester yet in my opinion. Can't wait to do it all again. See you all soon! Suit man, out.
Awesome day as always, good to have a catch up, win treacle's awesome Derpy painting, and just enjoy ponies in general. You are all wonderful people
Okaaaay my feedback... This was my first meet, of many I hope.... Firstly, I was one of the dealers stuck on one of the tables against the bar, and sales weren't good. It put a downer on my day, but also I hardly knew what was even going on this meet. I really wish maybe the organizers could have introduced themselves more so, or something. Our tables made us very isolated from the rest of the meet and we felt like we were imposing kind of... We think maybe if the events were announced via loudspeaker or something they would be better. I really wanted to watch the auction but we didn't even know when it started besides a lot of shouting.... I am not introverted but it was quite intimidating to have a bunch of people in front of our dealers table (hiding us from view), yelling at the top of their lungs. We were also very disappointed that only one episode was shown, with barely audible volume. I do intend to deal again, especially as I donated £45+ in items to the auction, but there are some points that might be of value. Thanks!
Manechester was my second meet (Yorkshire Bronies Leeds 2nd March was my first) and in all honesty, I think it was absolutely brilliant. Everyone I met was really really nice and friendly. Extra thanks to the people* who took a break to wander to the comic shops (and to Pinkie's Diner) with me in tow. The guy* who read out the quiz questions had to yell at the top of his voice to be heard. Maybe a microphone rigged up to the sound system so the organisers could be heard would be useful at the next meet. The volume was so low I couldn't hear the vocal track, only (very slightly) the music. About half the people attending knew the lyrics to the songs in "Magical Mystery Cure", which made it slightly better, but an adjustment to the volume will be nice next time. (* I only got people's first names, not their forum nicknames, so they are uncredited for now)
I think the reason that there was no Microphone for announcing things was that we barely had sound for music and episodes. Soooo helpfull that the pup forgot we were coming and started to dismantle the setup so they had to call out an emergency DJ. I think the lack of microphone was purely equipment failure, not lack of planning. Cheesy did an amazing job with all of that! I thought the whole thing was AWESOME! And I learned a lot about myself at this meet. Like the fact that I should never be allowed at an auction ever again!
Yeah, in the last few meets the sound system and announcements have been excellent and there has been announcements made. We just had a system failure this time around. I was sat like two tables away from the auction and had no idea what was going on until the large group of people behind me started shouting values. But I think Cheesey handled things as best he could with the circumstances, though whether it would have been better to have the vendors along the wall with the projector screen on it and put them more in the way than out of it I don't know. Still, I'm just and attendee, so I'm sure the admin team had their reasoning.
Well, what can I say? My first meet up, and it was indeed an awesome time. I didn't get too drunk (miraculously), I won an adorable Derpy pic and Dovahshy model in the auction, where I was also able to trick someone into paying an extortionate amount for a vinyl Fluttershy (I received many a brohoof for that evil deed), and I had my brains blown out several times during Russian roulette. Also got my first blind bag for winning the Pup Quiz (Go Team Russia(n Roulette)!), and all in all, had a magical time. Awesome to meet you all, and it is very likely I will get along to more Manechester meets to see all you epic people again! There's my feedback. Okay, laters.
I'm happy to know that it was just this meet that the issues were, and not every meet. I look forward to the next one. Sadly, the curse of being a vendor is that we are unable to socialize and being someone with social anxiety generally, it was quite nerve wracking for me! Next meet, anyone is welcome to come over and talk pony! See you then
Had a really good day yesterday. Great seeing some familiar faces, and some new ones too! I 'won' some napkins and the peach wipes in the auction (to be fair, nobody else would have got them!). Also got some trading cards - the start of a slippery slope, if the blind bags are anything to go by!
Yesterday's meet was a belter! One of the better days in my life! The day went as such. Meet Macclesfield lot at the station Get on crowded train Get off crowded train, find a tenner I split off to go and assist in setting up sound Sound was ded We got some guy to come and fix it Shaun went the wrong way Sound ded again Use some little speakers that were quite good in the end Had an auction. Gabe's signature sold for £11, with a free box thrown in Do a quiz, Jimmy Saddle was best answer Play russian roulette. Died multiple times. Entered the draw-0ff. Lost epically. Played stupid videos for a while Pack up, go to FAB cafe Pay £1 Sit around tables, start playing a drinking game. I had a cider. Music started, everything went quiet Best game of chinese whispers ever </day>
Hey guys! Had so much fun at this meet! Though I didn't talk to many I didn't already know, I tried my best to socialise. (I was the green haired girl btw) So yeah, my day went: Long train journey Eventually turn up like OHEY GUYS Snook to the toilets to do my Chrysalis facepaint And to sneak jager into our coke. Repeat above process until jager ran out. Got an ELLO cake Got a Chrysalis bracelet (which I haven't took off yet) Wore a horse head Team "U AVIN A GIGGLE M8" on the quiz Going to FAB. Played a drinking game. Chinese Whispers My Neighbour Totoro Mc'Donalds free Big Mac. Fruit Ninja and Temple Run on the train home.
The meetup was absolutely brilliant. It was first time to a Manechester meet. Chatted with several people (David and Nile (?) - I'm the "new guy"!) Had a few ciders (maybe one too many) - the beverage of choice of course. Loved the quiz - go "The Yay Team"! We were so close to coming first! The English gent with the "Brony Beacon Tophat" - brilliant! Can't wait until the next one in Manchester! Yay!
I think the question on everyones lips is .... Has cheesy got his voice back yet? All that yelling! yeesh!
It's fairly impressive that he managed to make it through the whole day, including the auction and the quiz.
