I think it was me, but I don't know why
Something I asked elsewhere (off-forum) and was advised to ask here instead: the draft schedule we were given a few days beforehand included "Dusty Old Books: Redux" which I was planning to go to. This didn't actually happen, but I don't remember it being announced that the change had been made. What happened there, please?
Adding to this, please can the official con schedule be updated on the website when it changes? I saved a copy of the schedule from the website on Friday and found out that it was quite different from the real schedule in the conbook so had to take a photo of the updated one
Yes please to the above! I kept the draft schedule on my phone for convenience, and it caused me to miss the stand up comedy which was moved to another time... (I'd love it if someone has a vid of that. I like puntastic stuff )
Pipsqueak's got it on his own YouTube account:
It was good fun and is worth a watch.
Writeup's done! You can find it in the link below.
Thanks! Will have to view it when I get home
Wow... that was truly awful.
Do explain further..
sorry.. the 'comedy'.. not BUCK BUCK was awesome.
ahw man, I'm sorry. It was the first time I ever did anything like that, and I'm still quite young. I'm presuming you watched the whole thing.
Good on you for giving it a go - I wouldn't have had the guts when I was 15. I'll watch it later when I have a computer with sound.
Aww man i feel bad now. Yeah you're still just a kiddo. I watched 90% of it, i guess it just wasn't my style.
I genuinely liked the show -- possibly it was partly a "you had to be there" thing, but it actually felt refreshing and helped recharge the batteries before the Lunar Eclipse. For one thing, it was about the cleanest stand-up routine I've seen in years, which (to me, if maybe not to others) was a plus point. Yes, some of the jokes were truly groan-inducing, but that was all part of the enjoyment. I guess you could say it was the sort of thing you might see at an old-fashioned seaside resort -- and I like old-fashioned humour. Some of the timing might have been improved -- eg the chemistry jokes bit went on rather too long -- and it would have been fun to have made it more ponyish, but those are minor things. I'd go to this again.
You did a good job with that, especially for the first time in front of a decent sized crowd. Sure a lot of the material was in the "so bad it's good" territory and you reused something from Bill Bailey, but the delivery was almost at professional quality. Overall it was excellent at bridging the gap between the other events and the Lunar Eclipse.
Ooops, did I? I didn't think I did, either it's just a coincidence or it was my subconscious remembering it or something,
I wouldn't do something like that on purpose. can you tell me which part?
The whole getting the audience to shout LOL thing was done in Dandelion Mind (Gently Modified), which I saw back in November 2011.
that thing, that wasn't really a joke. I saw someone do it on QI and really wanted to try it out myself and this was the only opportunity to xD. I thought of it on the spot when my brain was like "y'know that thing you wanted to try, do it now" It was more for my own personal satisfaction xD
I completely missed the comedy thingy, I didn't realise it was on. I was casually looking through my con book whilst eating dinner in my hotel room and I was all "awww, I wanna go to that"!
Buuuuuut, watching the YouTube video now. Not bad! You gonna do it again next year?
I've missed the stand-up comedy, and likewise, I've missed you at the con, Pipsqueak
