How has there not been an Overwatch thread already? Oh, well. So who's interested in Blizzard Entertainment's first FPS game and who has played it and/or going to play it?
This is the only shooter game i actually enjoy.... But then again I always play Mercy, effectively shooting my teammates >.> Also basically these: Spoiler
Time to plug my own video: This is actually the only other multiplayer only, FPS game that's really cought my interest in the last 6 months. The other game being Rainbow Six Seige. I've spent most of my time playing Widowmaker, but I've also had success with Mei, Lucio, Symmetria and some others. I've had some success with Bastion (as everyone does) but I do like some others as effective defenders.
Game finally released last night! I'm all about that Roadhog (Pudge) and then either Mercy, Junkrat or Pharah typically.
Y'know despite thinking otherwise I really love playing D.va. Honestly thought I'd never get on with her mechanics and... well thats totally not true turns out I'm actually quite good with characters that go Boom
Been thinking about getting it for a while and finally gave in last night. Only played a few games so not really familiar with all the characters yet, but I love playing Widowmaker and Mercy. My battle tag is Nytheris#21606 if anyone wants to play sometime.
After watching a few videos, and spending some time, I've found the virtues of playing as Mei (as if the video of me from the beta wasn't enough of an example). I've also spent time learning how Zarya works, and why she's so hard to get right, but unbelievable when things are working. I've also been succeeding with Pharah and Lucio in various situations. I can't seem to get either Hanzo or Genji right. Hanzo is supposed to be some unusual kind of sniper and I can't quite get him to work well for me, and Genji is a bit like a troll, sneak about running everywhere and annoying the enemy with shuriken. Symmetria is too hard to get right as an attacker simply due to her lack of range and her turrets, but as a defender, there's nothing else to say other than she's strong... Zenyatta is also someone I need to get more into, his healing may be slower than Mercy's but it can be done at range and he's very effective at dealing heavy damage. By the way, as unsurprising as it is my battletag is my username and #2867.
Bastion is so annoying. You just find somewhere to set up, hold left click and hope nobody snipes you. He's boring to play and boring to play against >.>
Not really, Bastion is a lot more than just point and click, there is some merit in positioning and beling placed in an area that's hard to get at. But Bastion takes no skill to play. More or less it's easy kills guaranteed. Bastion just needs to be countered in any number of ways. Pharah is great as Bastion just doesn't move. Bombard with rockets and hope Bastion hasn't actually seen you and isn't good at hitting moving targets. Junkrat can do similar things with bombardment, just do so from cover. I found Reinhardt can also counter Bastion with relative ease, just move closely (or flank) with shields up and then charge, Bastion gets forced out of turret mode and you get an easy swing at the bot. Get Bastion with Zarya and she says "That was for my people".
I'm actually loving playing as Symetra placing turrets in annoying places is fun. There is actually more to Bastion than that. If you're used to faster characters like Widowmaker or Mcree I can understand the feeling though. The trick with Bastion is to set up well and then move, then rinse and repeat. Personally I find Hanzo and Widowmaker annoying myself.
D. Va is my favourite. She's incredibly fun to play as but she shouldn't be classified as a "tank". More of a defensive heroine. My gamertag is PixelVapour#2131
True but people class her as the worst tank. I think she's a lot better at flanking than other tanks, like apparently Winston (I haven't played Winston yet)
She's what I classify as a 'harasser'. D.Va Junkrat and Luscio are fantastic for annoying people, causing your opponents to focus on you so your team go for the objective.
