We just had a tiny pinhole in the clouds and it was glaring far to much to see anything but the best time was about 9:40

And just to rub it in, the sun is now shining down on my computer screen so I can hardly see anything! Why couldn't it have been like this an hour ago???

It was way too overcast on my end. Which is a shame because now there aren't any clouds at all in the sky.

Yep, the sky is now clearing and I can see the disc of the sun perfectly. Why couldn't it have been like this a few hours earlier!

    Dear Princess Celestia...

    DSCN1526.JPG

Today, your sister (or at least, her counterpart in the human world) had one too many espressos and stayed up way past her bedtime. My study buddy & I went to check it out - for Science!

We had to drive quite a way to get out from under the clouds - thanks for nothing, Rainbow - and I did great! Even though I've not really had lessons. Or hands. Not for that long, anyway...

    DSCN1426.JPG

But it was TOTALLY worth it when we got there! We took LOTS of pictures...

    DSCN1445.JPG DSCN1476.JPG DSCN1486.JPG

And you wouldn't believe how cold and dark it got! I just about froze my wings off! (Pro-tip: No matter how cold you get, or how platonic your intentions, never ask your study buddy for a wing rub in public. Ponies will stare.)

    DSCN1482.JPG

As if today hadn't started out strangely enough, when we went into that building on the right we found rows of human-shaped dolls that looked just like me! It was kinda spooky.

So, to sum up - eclipses are awesome! I can't think of a better way to have fun with science...unless it came with flash cards, I guess. And study notes. And a full scientific journal. Ooh, I need to write this up as a journal! Spike, take a note...

    Your faithful students,

    Twilight Sparkle & Hearthfire.

Some really good shots of the moon there, nice job you two ^_^

I think that cosplay needs some thick glasses for the scientist effect, otherwise that is brilliant :3

the sky went sorta grey, then whitish after half 9, utter disappointment. Nice to see everyone's pictures and pov's.
    Nice shots, and cosplay.

    Awesome stuff @BRJ

Up here.. well, I got in the sky and photobombed Luna's photobomb. Try again in about 75 years!

I did catch a fleeting glimpse (with the naked eye.. it was behind clouds and only looked a fraction of a second, others were staring at it) and just basically got to see a small glowing outline amongst the white. Pretty underwhelmed really but hey... Northern England.. I expected nothing else :p

I saw it briefly behind the clouds, then it cleared up and I used a pinhole to have another look. We were very lucky with the weather!

I wanted to take a picture of the Sun this morning, but the Moon was getting in the way.
