I understand this is a show aimed at children, but this is on a forum for a My Little Pony Show so I'm not concerned about being judged Talking to Little Emerald about the show at yesterday's Exeter Brony Meetup really got me thinking about it again (Not that I lost interest again, mind you) I actually have somewhat of an interest in railways because of this show actually, I'm not an enthusasit, but you get my point. In. Its hayday it was a great introduction to older steam based railways and could actually teach kids a fair bit about them. Sadly this hasn't really been true of the show since 2004, where Awdry's love of railway realism was chucked out of the window and never found again. I do know this was based from "The Railway Series" but as of yet I have not had a chance to read these books sadly Anyways, I am a really big fan of the classic series' of this show, 1-4, I did enjoy 6 and 7 but 1-4 were the cream on the cake for me, back when Britt Allcroft was still the one in charge of the show, and Awdry was still alive and could have a say in where she was taking it. Series 5 was okay, but had way too many crashes for my liking, some of which were just plain ridiuclous, but only people who are really into the series will even begin to care about the rest of that so I'll stop there =P I've hated the show since it was taken over by HiT Entertainment, I don't mean to be a Nostalgia fanboy here, but to me everything beyond Series 8 should just be considered a new show, as if they didn't have the shells of the characters I would think it was. Thomas has gone from being cheeky, but having his heart in the right place to become a full on goody two shoes, and it goes on. Still, rediscovering the classic episodes back in 2006 after losing interest for several years was one of the best things that ever happened to me. That's just my opinion though. So, anyone else here fans of this show, the book series it came from or both?
