I will be volunteering at the convention this year, so you'll almost certainly see me around; feel free to say hi :). Although obviously I won't always be free to hang out with people.

Speaking of which, I mentioned in an earlier post about a possible pre-meet on the Friday. It's now unlikely that I'll be able to make that, due to my volunteering commitments. But I'm fairly sure there'll be some informal gatherings popping up somewhere anyway.

Less than 10 days to go! :)

We're excited to bring you an exclusive early release of the Legend of Everfree movie on DVD here in the UK. Not due to be released until Monday 23rd October, you can pick up your copy of the latest Equestria Girls movie at the con for £6.99 (cheaper than Amazon!), or make it a DVD triple pack with Rainbow Rocks and Friendship Games for £13.99. We also have deals on complete box sets of seasons one to three, and a spooky Halloween special DVD. These deals are only available at the convention from the PonyCon merchandise tables.

I guess this goes here... a little questionnaire thingy I've done, modelled on some similar ones I've seen in the furry fandom but slightly tweaked for ponies:

What do I call you? Logan, for preference. Everyone else does and I respond to it pretty much automatically now. The full version (Loganberry) is fine too, especially as that's my actual username in most places! If I've told you my real name, that's okay too if you prefer.

What will you look like? A horse. No, afraid not – cosplay isn't really my thing. I'll be wearing a variety of pony T-shirts and carrying some sort of bag. Other than that, I'm older than most bronies, I wear glasses and I don't wear jeans. (Denim irritates my skin.)

Who will you be with? Anyone who can stand my presence for more than 30 seconds. I can't afford to be fussy. :D Also, whoever wants to join in any impromptu singing sessions! Oh, and the Pub Quiz crowd, naturally!

What will you be doing? Not a clue. The timetable for UKPC has an awful lot on it this year, and I don't generally stick to my planned schedule anyway. But as just mentioned, there'll definitely be singing involved. Lots of singing.

Can I talk to you? Sure, I'm happy to talk to just about anyone. Please don't do a Quibble Pants and keep pestering me when I obviously want to be doing something else, because that will annoy the hay out of me. But a hello and a quick chat? Absolutely. :)

Can I take your photo? Um, why? I don't cosplay, as I said. But if you really want to, then ask me first and I expect I'll be okay with it. If you take video of me doing any sort of performance, I want to see a copy, please. Just for my amusement, not so I can sue you later. ;)

Can I hug you? I guess, though please, please ask me first. I don't want you to accidentally break something fragile and feel awful about it!

Can I buy you a drink? Now we're getting silly. I don't expect anyone to buy my cider for me. I don't even know whether my health will let me drink alcohol during the con.

How long are you staying? I'm coming down on Friday afternoon and going back up on Monday morning, so I'll get to attend the whole con. :)

Where are you staying? The Premier Inn on the Filton Roundabout. I always choose the most glamorous locations.

How are you travelling? To Bristol? By train, probably via Birmingham. I'll wear a pony shirt during the trip, though I don't know which one yet, so feel free to come and say hi!

Favourite ponies? Fluttershy, Scootaloo, Celestia, Derpy.

Anything else I should know? I take the all-ages nature of this convention seriously. Being foul-mouthed or talking about NSFW stuff are really good ways to annoy me fast, so please leave off the f- and c-bombs, unless they're "filly" and "colt". :p I prefer to avoid that sort of thing even outside the venue.

This is very much a specifically pony-themed weekend for me. While that doesn't mean I won't talk about anything else, if you want to have a long conversation about Doctor Who or railways or something, another time might be better. Political discussions are right out for the duration of the con. Not interested.

Also, I'm diabetic. I don't have to avoid sugary foods entirely, so a muffin or two is fine, but I can't go overboard. Partly but not entirely related to this, my state of health can change very fast. Please be considerate if it does.

After some exciting news about our exclusive merchandise earlier this week, we have some regretful news this time.

We are disappointed to announce that due to problems with the supplier, we will not be having an exclusive plushie this year. The order was placed many months ago, before the tickets for the convention went on sale, and we are very sad to have this happen as we were looking forwards to the design we had this year.

VIP’s – please check your emails as we have contacted each of you.

We cannot advise further on any details as we are in dispute regarding the payments we have made.

We hope the lack of this year’s exclusive won’t take away from what should be a wonderful convention and apologise for the late notice but we wanted to be sure before advising to prevent any confusion.

Hiya. There could well be, but unfortunately I won't be available on Friday evening to attend/organise it.

I think at least some people are thinking about going to the Vue Cribbs Causeway cinema that evening (it's about four miles away) to see the MLP Movie... though until screening times are released in a day or two, nobody can really make any plans. I won't be going to it even if it happens, so I don't really know any further details.

It's also possible there'll be a more informal meetup somewhere. The location this year means there's not really a focal point to meet, but I wouldn't be surprised if a few people gathered in the bar of one of the Holiday Inns, given how many attendees are staying there. (These bars are open to everyone, not just hotel guests.) Again, this isn't something I'm likely to be attending, so I can't give any more details than that.

Will there be any PonyCon attendees who will be staying at the Rock n Bowl Motel near the Temple Meads train station this weekend? I managed to get the last bed on offer. However, I'm a bit nervous of staying over at a hostel I'm not familiar with and I'm hoping there will be other bronies who will be staying there as well so I don't stick out like a sore thumb with my MLP t-shirts I wear and merchandise I buy from the convention.

If there's a movie meet up I'm all up for it :D

I arrive on Friday (Time not known yet)

Gillingham Kent to Bristol is about a 200 Mie drive... If I'm lucky I can do it in just shy of 3 Hours.

One thing to be aware of if you're considering a cinema trip is that there are virtually no Friday evening showings. I've compiled a list (which you can find right here) of five Bristol cinemas and when they're showing the film. And, for example, the latest showing at Vue in Cribbs Causeway is 4:55pm. The latest I can find anywhere in the city is at Cineworld (in Hengrove, south of the city centre) which is at 6:10pm. After that, you're out of luck unless you want to see it on a later day.

On another note, I've just seen the BBC weather forecast for the weekend, and it is not good -- the map had the words "severe gales" plastered right across SW England on Saturday. So be prepared! Friday doesn't look too bad, so if you're travelling that day there should be little cause for concern.

May be a bit later than planned getting to Bristol tomorrow.

Jenson Button is at Bluewater tomorrow and I'm not missing an opportunity to meet him.

Help make UK PonyCon better by completing our short feedback survey!

Just over a week ago, people from all over the world descended on Bristol to celebrate our favourite little ponies. We want to know what you liked, what you didn't and how you think we could improve for next year.

We rely on your feedback to shape next years event, covering everything from the facilities we look for in a potential venue to what merchandise we have on sale and the variety of events that make up our events programme.

You can complete our survey by following this link: goo.gl/MPx7Ab

Whilst UKPonyCon is over for the year and the committee busy wrapping things up before starting planning 2018, BronyScot is only a couple of weeks away. Here's what they have to say:
    ———

BronyScot is now in its 4th year, taking place at the Hilton Grosvenor in Glasgow on Saturday 25 November. While mainly popular with the bronies, all are welcome! The convention will feature a range of vendors, cosplay, games and presentations, including a live Skype call with Kelly Sheridan, voice of Starlight Glimmer in My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic.

In the evening of Sunday 26 November is Rock Nessie, a concert featuring musicians from the fandom. This is ticketed as a separate event and is 18+ only.

    Tickets are available at brony.scot/Tickets/

Thank you, daisyd! Yes, BronyScot is on the way very soon, and hopefully it will get lots of support. See here for discussion on UK of E about this convention. :)
