In the end, it probably all comes down to the fact that I have no taste in videogame music. I claim I love the OST from pretty much every game I've ranked among my favourites, and, unless the soundtrack really does make such a large difference to my enjoyment, I suspect that it's more along the lines of associating good games with good music in that order. ... on which note, I love the tracks in Pokémon Shuffle. Also sounds like the same composer from Coliseum in a few ways, which could make sense, what with Genius Sonority being behind both. I think?
Whenever I play a game that is built around a character creator I always play as a race other then human. Preferably animal or beast. This isn't only because of my furry leanings though. I always found it boring to play as a human, I always figure, I am one, so why when given the chance would I want to play one?
I've been playing Cities Skylines. If I start a city and they're driving on the wrong side, I restart. Not naming any cities Ponyville either, nope. I'm calling it Canterlot
Same, though I'll only do that in games that are third person view. Except with FFXIV, I chose a male character for that but only because I wanted to be a super buff magician for the irony. :v
Good to see someone else who likes to experiment and brake from the norm ^^ I've played as a female character occasionally. When I eventually get around to playing Mass Effect I'm definitely playing as a female shepard. Partly because I've heard she has the better voice actor.
I never cared at all for Mario Kart's battle mode. It just isn't thrilling to my eyes. I'd rather be doing some high speed racing on some gorgeous tracks, thank you very much!
Either we are distant brothers... or I thought of the very same idea when I first read about it in gaming magazines long ago. It got mixed reviews but I didn't care. I got the PS1 copy first and the Nintendo 64 one much later. In fact, I reviewed both of them. I love the cartoony art. We have conceptual designer Phil Corbett to thank for the cats' wonderful style. I hear he's still doing well in his endeavors and has a portfolio blog online but sadly I don't think he worked on another game since. Cheers! You're the first dude I played it with.
That's so awesome I'm glad there's someone else who appreciates it's potential. I think I actually stumbled across his portfolio sometime last year and did see several pictures relating to the game.
Got a few more to unload: 1. My absolute love of open world sandbox games has given me the unfortunate side-effect that in my whole life of gaming, I have only ever completed 2 videogames: Journey, which took me about 2 or 3 hours, and Bioshock Infinite, which I couldn't stop due to being so engaged in the story. 2. I'm sure to rustle some jimmies here, but I am fully against everything Gamergate stands for. It's pretty obvious to anyone who looks at it nowadays that any notion of being concerned about 'journalistic integrity in the videogame industry' went right out the window when they started openly starting harrassment campaigns on Tumblr, sending shootout threats to universities for hosting Anita Sarkeesian, creating sock-pupet campaigns to give the illusion of drumming up support for themselves, and supporting 8Chan's decision to not remove images-that-aren't-quite-child-porn-but-are-still-pretty-messed-up from its servers. And Gamergate being publicly mocked by Ken Levine at GDC is pretty much the final nail in the coffin of Gamergate's credibility.
I was under the impression that it had blown over... it is finished, right? Please tell me it's gone.
A pretty big one I want to get off my chest. I have absolutley zero interest in Let's Plays of any kind. I feel sort of the odd-one-out because I know how immensely popular they are, but I don't see the point at all of watching someone talk over a game when I could be playing it myself, I much prefer silent gameplay footage, which has become very hard to find. There's several "tropes" of Let's plays that for some reason annoy me, such as putting a "funny" title in caps lock before you write the name of the game being played, and also the habit of putting you face in the thumbnail I find to be quite narcissistic. I find many of the Let's Players that are popular seem to be less interested in the game and more interested in trying to be funny (IE: Talking in a silly voice) and this just doesn't sit well with me. I know I'm very much of the unpopular oppinion and am, to borrow a phrase from South Park, a "grandpa" . But I'm guess I'm happy with my POV
I thought voice over narration over game footage is a pain at first, but I really grown to prefer the Japanese ones over Englsh for reasons unknown.
Yeah, I personally can't stand those kinds of LPers (And to avoid a flamewar, I won't name names, but if we're talking about extremely popular narcissistic LPers who put their faces in their thumbnails and constantly do silly voices, I think it's easy to guess who it's directed at). Plus yeah, if I'm so interested in a game that I'll watch someone else play through it, I'd much rather play it myself. I generally prefer the gamers like Wildcat, Vanoss, H20Delirious, DaithiDeNogla, and the like: I don't really count them as LPers since their vids are generally just funny moments to do with certain incidents, and otherwise messing around in certain games, as opposed to serious playthroughs of an entire game. Just videos of a bunch of guys getting together on Gmod or GTA Online or something similar, finding some new funny thing to do (Like a glitch that causes gates to catapult vehicles into the air, playing 'tank-rodeo' or something similarly silly) and having fun with it. Quick, funny and to-the-point. And bonus points because with the ones that do have funny voices, it's their actual voices!
Roger Craig Smith is probably my favorite Sonic voice actor to date. Don't get me wrong, Ryan Drummond was a decent voice for him as well; but by god, his acting really didn't make up for it.
